Founding Kapotakkho Lions Club

Lions Club of Jashore Kapotakkho is one of the best Clubs of Lions District 315A1, Bangladesh. The establishment of the club is a glorious achievement of Lionism by all the members of the club. The dream of humanitarian service to the distressed leads the lion to establish the Club & the journey begun in 1986 holding the philosophy of lionism.

The Club started an Eye Hospital at Kadamtala, Jashore on a small scale in a rented house. It became successful & influenced the lion members to purchase 22 decimals of land at Hushtala Road, Bakchar, Jashore to setup it’s permanent project named “Kapotakkho Lions Eye & Diabetic Hospital”. This magnificent humanitarian service project was inaugurated in 1st January, 1992 while Ln. Faruk Moin was the District Governor of District 315, Bangladesh.

Meanwhile it turns into a modern 32 bed Eye Hospital with two storied building upon 58 decimals of land by the magnificent support of the then District Governors, Cabinet members and the financial assistance of $ 48,000 USD of LCIF. Sight First International also came forward to update the hospital with modern equipment’s. It provided compound microscopes, surgery equipment’s for IOL operation & arranged the IOL surgery training for the Eye Consultant. After that the IOL surgery started in the project from October, 1999. Sight First International supported the Kapotakkho Lions Eye & Diabetic Hospital amounting $ 15,205 USD. From the beginning of the Lions Club of Jashore Kapotakkho, The Great Lion leader & Ambassador of Lionism, Ln. Moslem Ali Khan played magnificent role in receiving the grant from LCIF & Sight First International.

After that Lions Club of Jashore Kapotakkho thought about the diabetic patients & tried to enhance treatment facilities. The Club started its second permanent project establishing Diabetic Unit. It became successful and the diabetic patients are now getting modern treatment facilities.

The Club was able to collect handsome amount for the hospital project through the donation of District Lion leaders, the dedicated club members, local rich people, life members. Lucky draw (Lottery) which was approved by the Peoples Republic of Bangladesh also brought a generous grant. Local administration and high officials have magnificent cooperation for the establishment of the project.

For the construction & successful implementation of the hospital project, Ln. Mia Morshed Hossain, Ln. Md. Sharif Hossain, Ln. Dr. Kazi Azizul Haque, Ln. Md. Golam Mostafa, Ln. Nurul Islam, Ln. Md. Bahauddin Ahmed, Ln. Akhter Iqbal, Ln. Moyeen Uddin Bashi, Ln. Md. Hasan Ali, Ln. Nurul Amin, Ln. Sifuzzaman, Ln. A.S.M. Habibul Haque Chuni, Ln. Md. Emdadul Haque Lata, Ln. Md. Shafiqul Islam, Ln. Dr. Bhakta Kumar Mondal, Ln. Swapan Bhattacharjee, Ln. Md. Golam Mostafa Funtu, Ln. Adv. Mohammad Ishaque, Ln. Sk. Ashrafur Rahman, Ln. S M Monwar Rahim as well as all the honourable Lion members had played magnificent role.

In 2018, Kapotakkho Lions Eye & Diabetic hospital which is the permanent project of Jashore Kapotakkho Lions club came to its complete form. By the endless service of humanity for the less fortunate people, Lions Club of Jashore Kapotakkho is spreading its sweet essence of great Lionism.
